Why are so many people in debt? How will they cope when their debts are recalled?

I have nothing to write home about and live hand to mouth, but I am not in debt and only buy something if I have the money. Why are people not worried about the debts they incurr? I wouldn’t be able to sleep with worry if I owed any money to anyone. http://bit.ly/iN2qny
